Skin needling stimulates the release of growth factors that build up NATURAL collagen and elastin in the area that’s being treated.
A technique is one of the safest collagen induction treatments available. Unlike lasers or dermabrasion it can be used on most skin types, colours and with conditions such as epilepsy and even on the sensitive areas around the eyes. The skin is red with a light grazing initially and generally you will be able to return to normal activities within 24hrs and mineral make-up can be worn to cover any redness. Treatment effects are cumulative and will usually be seen within 6 weeks of each treatment. To achieve significant results, several treatments are required at monthly intervals. Results will depend on the depth of your concern. This is an excellent method of collagen induction as the epidermis and melanocytes in the deep layer of the skin are not damaged so there is no possibility of post inflammatory hyper pigmentation.
After 1 treatment indents become less noticeable on these deep scars. Course of 4 minimum suggested. Skin irritation is barely noticeable when treating lines and wrinkles.
How does skin needling work?
Skin Needling or Collagen Induction Therapy creates controlled micro-injuries to trigger a natural wound healing response and cell turnover leaving the skin looking healthy, and bright.
Does skin needling hurt?
Generally not considered a painful but more like scratching in an area until it's warm. Some people may experience mild redness, tingling or swelling after the treatment, but these effects should subside within 24-72 hours.
How many skin needling treatments will I need?
Consistent monthly treatments are required to achieve the best results generally with a minimum of 6 consecutive sessions. Once desired results have been achieved, it is recommended maintenance Skin Needling should be every 4-8 weeks.
When should I avoid skin needling?
Not recommended on areas of active acne, skin infections, or raised moles. Any time you may be exposed to a lot of sun or dirt for about a week.
Skin needling after care?
After skin needling, it is important to keep the treated area clean and moisturised, avoid picking at or scratching the treated area. You are welcome to enjoy the sun, provided you wear a hat and apply sunscreen with SPF for protection. SPF50+ is highly recommended for protection and weekly exfoliation must be continued at home to reveal fresher looking skin.
When can I get injectables after or before skin needling?
As a general rule at Enhance suggest 2 weeks either side of our needling for toxins and 4 weeks either side for dermal fillers, do consult with your cosmetic injector as these time frames vary person to person.
